Sugar Point Resort is located on the eastern shore of Leech Lake, Minnesota's fourth largest lake.
Leech Lake is gearing up for another season of outstanding fishing. As a nationally recognized gamefish lake of 110,000 acres, Leech Lake offers some of the best fishing in the Midwest.
Musky fishing has been exceptional the past few years, with many beautiful fish being caught and released. Bass fishing activity continues strong in Boy Bay. Walleyes are the problem with most of the ones caught falling within the slot limits. However, the Department of Natural Resources has now instituted a five point plan, which includes stocking, reduction of the cormorant population, and habitat restoration. We have seen improvement after the first year, and anticipate the walleye numbers will continue to improve. Bottom line is that Leech Lake still affords a memorable fishing experience. Even if you don't ever catch a trophy fish, you will go home with wonderful memories of time spent with your family or your fishing buddies.
